My Favorite Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Recipe

I shared my vanilla buttercream frosting recipe a little while ago and got a lot of positive feedback so I’ve decided to share my chocolate buttercream frosting recipe!

Its not that hard to turn the vanilla buttercream frosting into a chocolate buttercream frosting but I’ve decided to post the recipe if you’re new to altering recipes or don’t like to alter recipes! Hopefully this makes it a little easier!

I love this chocolate buttercream frosting so much! Its so smooth and creamy and has such a great chocolatey flavor! Its so light and fluffy and it is so easy to pipe with! It may take a few times to master! Make sure you have more than enough powdered sugar on hand! If, however, you run out, add a few tablespoons on flour to your frosting, this should not effect the taste of your frosting!

  1. Soften your butter and whip it on high speed till it becomes glossy and almost white in color.
  2. Have your milk come to room temperature or warm it so it doesn't harden your butter.
  3. Combine butter, milk, and vanilla. Whip it together for two minutes or completely combined and smooth.
  4. Whisk together your powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
  5. Add your powdered sugar and cocoa powder mixture to your butter mixture one cup at a time.
  6. You may need to add more milk at this point.
